Thank you for visiting our website (which is still undergoing a few changes). Whether you are an existing, past or prospective member of our school community, we hope you will find the information here that you are looking for. St Nicolas is a small Cornish school at the heart of the village of Downderry, 6 miles to the east of Looe and 8 miles west of Torpoint. We are in a truly enviable position with the school field leading down to a sand and shingle beach and most of our classrooms have sea views. Our location provides the children with many opportunities for learning outside the classroom and the beach is well utilised for both work and play! Children, Parents, Staff and Governors feel that St Nicolas is a special place to learn and not just because of its location. As a small school, with small class sizes, staff get to know the children very well, enabling them to shape the curriculum to meet individual needs. The school actively encourages parents to become involved in all aspects of school life and this serves to strengthen the home-school partnership.
We welcome visits from prospective parents and pupils and know that you will soon see why learning at St Nicolas is such a positive and memorable experience. Should you wish to contact us our details are below. Lee Rounce Head Teacher Contact Information St Nicolas CofE VA School Email
